The East Asian Reading Room and the East Asian Seminar Rooms at the UI Libraries were created with the support of the Japan Foundation and the UI Center for Asian and Pacific Studies. The spaces are located on the north west side of the second floor and adjacent to the Main Library’s Japanese, Chinese and Korean Collections.
The Reading Room provides space for students, staff, and faculty to utilize the East Asian Collection and to support the teaching and research of UI East Asian programs. A mix of seating types and arrangement are available for walk-in use.
The Seminar Room may be reserved by instructors for seminars, classes, or other events which are related to the use of the East Asian Collections and support the teaching and research of UI East Asian programs. Instructors can reserve the seminar room by sending an email to Carolyn Simon (carolyn-simon@uiowa.edu), or reserve in Outlook (location RES-LIB2006-SeminarR). Typically the East Asian Seminar Room may be reserved Monday through Friday 8am-9pm during the academic semester. Hours may vary during UI holidays, summer, breaks, or interim. Please allow adequate time before the event for the reservation to be received and confirmed. Please reserve the room 2 days in advance. Keys are available at the Main Library Service Desk.
