We welcome school groups to visit the UI Libraries!

Please contact janalyn-moss@uiowa.edu about National History Day if you have specific requests for that event.

Please contact cathy-cranston@uiowa.edu if you are interested in having a librarian from the University of Iowa meet with your students.

Contact us at least 2-3 weeks in advance of your visit to make arrangements by filling out this request form. A staff member will contact you to confirm the details of your visit.

Note, library cards for checking out materials are not granted to individual students participating in group activities. Teachers and/or chaperones should not check out materials with their own library card on behalf of their students based on our library card agreement which states “I understand that materials borrowed with this permit are for my personal use and are not to be loaned by me to others.” Scanners with emailing capabilities are available for students to use if they need information from our books.

During your visit, some options for your students include:

  • use of library classroom
  • access to UI online databases
  • instruction and activities on a variety of topics
  • research assistance
  • use of scanners

We look forward to working with you and your students.
