Presented to the University Libraries as part of the Chef Louis Szathmáry II Collection of Culinary Arts, the recipe pamphlets represent another facet of culinary history. These ephemeral publications, which were generally produced and distributed by various food companies and kitchen appliance manufacturers to draw attention to their products, often wore out from heavy use, or were thrown out because they outlived their usefulness. In either case they were relegated to some obscure cupboard or drawer and were not held in the same regard as were cookbooks. Thus, few of the earlier pamphlets now exist and even fewer collections as extensive as this one remain intact.

A number of student assistants worked on the compilation of the following list, adhering to the filing arrangement devised by Chef Louis. Their dedication to this task is to be commended. Special recognition and gratitude is given to Kelly Shinkunas, and especially Melissa Vetter, whose diligence and conscientious efforts made this listing a reality.
