Access to Library Resources

Retired faculty and staff have access to library resources and databases on campus locations only.  Off-campus access is not available, due to licensing restrictions.  For further information, please see the Access to Commercial Databases policy and the Appropriate use of Electronic Resources policy.

Emeritus faculty and staff, as defined in the UI Operations Manual, are eligible for access to library resources and databases, both on campus and off campus. Off campus authentication is possible with your HawkID and password.

Circulation Services

Materials may be checked out using a University Faculty/Staff Photo ID Card.  For library information about loan lengths and renewals, please visit the Circulation website.

Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery Services

Emeritus faculty and staff, as defined in the UI Operations Manual, are eligible to request books, articles, and other research materials through Interlibrary Loan using their HawkID and password. Articles or chapters from nonelectronic journals, newspapers, or books held in any University of Iowa Library can be scanned and delivered electronically through the Article Delivery Service. This service is not available to non-emeritus retirees.
